Think About and Discuss:

Imagine that you are on a school trip to Mawlynnong. When you arrive
there, you are amazed to see the cleanliness in the village. One morning
as your group of facilitators and learners reaches the waterfall, you notice

that some learners from another school are up to mischief. You see a few of
them throwing plastic bottles into the water. What will you do? Where do
you think the bottles would go?

Think about:

Here are some of the things that happen when plastic objects like bottles, bags and nets
are dumped in the rivers and oceans:

1. Some plastic objects could float around

for a long time and get washed up to
the shore.

2. Many marine animals, turtles and birds
eat plastic objects mistaking them
for food; making them sick and even

causing their death.

3. It takes almost 700 years for plastic
bottles to start decomposing and nearly
a 1,000 years to get fully decomposed.
