Beginning:

So clean is the Khasi village of Mawlynnong in Meghalaya that it is

called the ‘cleanest village in Asia’. The Khasi tribe leads its life by
three values: cleanliness of the heart, soul and surroundings, equality
amongst all and good manners. Everyone in this village, men, women
and children of all age-groups, work hard and keep their homes and

outdoors spotlessly clean! Village volunteers sweep the roads several
times in a day. Tree-cutting and littering is forbidden and there are
plenty of hand-made bamboo baskets for garbage on every third tree.

No wonder that Mawlynnong is also known as ‘God’s own garden’.
