                                                                                            PN and Hyperglycemia: Adverse Outcomes

                                                                                            • There is a relation between elevated glucose and poor outcomes (MI,
                                                                                              stroke, critical illness) in PN patients

                                                                                            • Hyperglycemia is a stronger predictor of poor outcomes in PN patients
                                                                                              than a history of diabetes

                                                                                                o Majority of PN patients becoming hyperglycemic are not diabetic1.2
