I knew right away who I would give it to. Rich Bartel is
truly deserving of this award. His craftsmanship and attention to detail is what sets him apart. In the time that I have worked with Rich his knowledge retention and ability to apply what he has learned to new situations is second to none. Rich is a true asset to the company!

irst, I want to thank Dan Mead for selecting me for
this prestigious award and acknowledgement. His knowledge and experience has and continues to be a tremendous learning experience for myself and is an asset to the company and community!
When I received the award, I found it difficult to choose the next recipient as everyone in the Bellingham Division has helped me grow. As an apprentice everyone has treated me as an equal, as part of a winning team, in a company who truly appreciates everyone who makes an effort to work hard and provides excellent service to the communities and customers we serve!
The person I chose to receive this award is Jeff Laird.
I’ve worked with and for him on a few different jobs, but the latest job is one of amazement. Although building
a school is an awesome task in itself, this school came with obstacles beyond what many would call reality. The Sumas Elementary School is being built in an area where recent devastation took place. Flood lines continue to show on homes and buildings at heights of about 4’ high throughout the community. The stories I’ve been told, the challenges that took place, and the work that was done
by Jeff as the flooding began shows his unwavering work ethic and dedication! The leadership he provided and continues to provide goes far and beyond what a company would expect. For each of the jobs I’ve been on with him,

his knowledge, leadership, and willingness to help, are why I choose Jeff as the next recipient of the Abundance & Appreciation Award for the Bellingham Division of VECA Electric & Technologies.
