A FAMILY TRANSFORMED

                                       Ninfa Obregon Alvites Family

         THANKYOU

                                                                                     St Michael
                                                                              Catholic Church
On behalf of the Ninfa Obregon Alvites family, a heartfelt thank you goes out
to you for the generous gift of a home. Because of YOU...This family has
beds to dream in, a roof to protect them and a chance to take one more
step on the path out of poverty.
Ninfa Obregón (30) is from Sihuas, a town in the Black Mountain Range
(Cordillera Negra) in the Andes of Ancash. She lives with her husband,
Rómulo (30). They married very young and have 2 children, Ruth (12) and
              Said (5).
They left their homes at the age of 18 together with their daughter and headed
to Lima where they worked for more than 2 years. After that time, they left their
home in the heights of San Juan de Lurigancho (Lima) to set up a home on their
own plot of land in Cambio Puente.
Since arriving Ninfa and her family have settled in the 30 de Agosto neighborhood in a
humble home made from estera and bullrush and wrapped in blue plastic to protect
them from the cold, heat and dust. They do not have access to essential services, but
both Ninfa and Rómulo work hard to provide for their family; Ninfa sometimes works
part-time on a farm harvesting crops and can earn approximately 7 dollars per day,
other times she is paid to take care of a neighbor´s daughter. Her husband also works
every day, either as a minibus driver or as a fare collector.
Their two children are studying remotely and are hoping to attend school in March if
things open up. Ninfa and her husband always try to provide the best for them. She tells
us that she has many dreams for her children and hopes for them to grow up to become good
people and professionals. She also wants to give them a safer home and to be able to have her
own business from home, such as a small shop or a food stall in the afternoons. She is moved to do anything she
can on behalf of her children and fights for them day after day to be able to
provide a better life for them.
