  Event Management Process
Event management is
the process that
(defines activities to)
monitors all events that
may occur throughout
the entire IT
infrastructure. It looks to detect all events,
examine all events to determine which events
have meaning to
operational activities,
and then determine (if a response is necessary)
how to respond. Event management may ignore the event; they may auto-respond; they may log the event; they may have an operator respond; or they may escalate the event to the status of an incident by opening an incident ticket and passing responsibility for response off to
another
process
(typically
Incident
management).
Event
Management
is therefore
the basis for all planned operational monitoring and control.
