About the Author

PATRICK MOREAU’s passion for knots was born when he saw an old
bosun tying knots and splices on the rigging of his first boat, a small cutter,
in the Rade de Brest, France.

After working in various sectors, at the age of fifty, Moreau decided to
“get serious” and began working with knots—first on riggings for sailboats,
and then by creating training programs about knots.
The magazine Voiles et voiliers asked him to write an introductory book
that was followed by two more books, and two instructional videos.
Today Moreau, known as Dr. Knot, assists on classic sailboats and

                organizes maritime internships.
He has dedicated himself to refining the pedagogy of knot tying.
