Day 1: "The Weight of Duty"

                 Scene:
It's late evening in the city of New-nesia. The skies are tinted with a strange artificial hue as lights from
the towering buildings pulse with the energy of the bustling city. Javi walks down a narrow alley, his
boots echoing off the cold steel walls. His face is grim, his uniform stained from the day’s work. He
looks exhausted, both physically and mentally.

He reaches a hidden part of the city, away from the ever-watching surveillance of the government, and
finds a small, dimly lit bar—a place where he usually retreats to drown his guilt.

As he enters, Lleona is already sitting at the bar, sipping a drink.

                 Javi: (sitting beside her)
                 “Another one. Make it strong.”

                 Lleona: (glancing at him)
“You look like hell. Another rough day at work?”

                 Javi: (gritting his teeth)
“It’s always a rough day, Lleona. I’m starting to think it’ll never be anything else.”
                 Lleona: (shrugs)
“We signed up for this. We knew what the job was. It’s our duty, Javi. You can’t get soft now.”

Javi: (leaning in, voice low and frustrated)
“Our duty? Is it really a duty, or just slaughter in the name of keeping some rich bastards happy?
                                                                                              1
Today, I shot a woman. She was barely fighting back. She begged me to spare her child .”
                 Lleona: (shrugging, dismissive)
“You’re making this personal, Javi. This isn’t about individuals. We’re doing what’s necessary to keep
                 order.”

                                                             …..

1 Locutionary act: The literal meaning of what is said. Illocutionary act: The intended meaning or purpose
behind the words.Perlocutionary act: The effect of those words on the listener. For example, when Javi
expresses doubt about his duty, his words (locutionary) challenge the government’s authority (illocutionary)
and provoke frustration in Lleona (perlocutionary).
