How the world has changed.
The first words that pop up when you think of Mongolia are most likely to be “nature, nomad, culture.” But also
“poor” will come up when you think about the economy. It is hard to imagine such country was once the
strongest empire.
During its peak (13th century) our land was estimated to be 33 million square kilometres (13 million square miles)
covering 22% earth's land. With a population of over 100 million people which is the quarter of earth's population
at the time. Forming from present-day Poland in the west to Korea in the east is the largest contiguous land
empire in world history. But this did not last exceptionally long because the descendants of Ghengis khan had
been greedy over land and crumbled from the inside. They have split the land and often fought for other’s and
never had unity which eventually led to all of Mongolia being ruled by Manchu. We have been ruled by them for
over 200 years until it collapsed. During this period, we have lost a lot of our heritage and the chance to
develop.
If only Mongols had unity this would not have happened.
So, if I could change something from the past, I will change their way and perspective. Teach them how
important unity is so then maybe Mongolia is different than the way it is today.
