Intelligence
What constitutes intelligence, exactly, can be a question. While some believe that success is the best
indicator of intellect, others believe that there are other methods to measure intelligence. I think that it
depends on how influential the 'success' may be because even if they are successful, they could still have
inadequate intelligence and the successes could be purely based on luck and the assistance of others. However,
a person could have climbed their way to a successful life by applying their knowledge and intellect to aspects
of their life which could lead to saying that success can be a valid measure of one's intelligence.
The ability to make decisions that benefit themselves could be a way to determine how intelligent someone
is. It is the decisions someone makes that control their whole life and everything in it. Even the smallest
decisions made impact how someone's life turns out to be and how successful they grow to become. Known as
'The butterfly effect' it shows how the most insignificant of things can shape reality and that small decisions
lead to big decisions and eventually create an outcome. A person is wise if they are able to take advantage of
this and make choices that will benefit them. It means that they know how things work and how it will affect
them and the things around them which only someone intelligent and someone who knows their way around
things would do.
Another way to evaluate someone’s intelligence could be one’s perception.
We decide which parts of a message to focus on depending on what interests us, what we are familiar
with, or what we think is significant. Perception is the way in which someone understands and interprets a
particular thing. I think that the way that people perceive things personally shows to tell a lot about a person,
from their mindset to their intentions, perception that is righteous and useful could indicate someone's
intelligence.
Perceiving a problem open-mindedly and using a reasonable and suitable way to solve it would help one
become successful and intelligent. The person decides what aspects of a situation to focus on and what to
rule out so they can take action to their advantage.
Concluding my ideas, I would go on to say that I believe intelligence cannot be defined only by success, but
rather by a combination of traits and characteristics a person possesses. However, the person can apply
these characteristics in parts of their lives to reach great success.
