Intelligence
"Intelligence is the key to success" is what people like to say. Well, I agree with it to a certain degree.
Human's intellect can be measured in many ways varying from how they interact with life or how they
solve problems etc, but it's impossible to precisely determine a person's intelligence.
Individuals tend to measure intelligence through success and there's nothing wrong with it. We people like
to believe the ones who are shining among the crowd are agile and versatile. They are naturally smart so
that's probably why they are so famous. Those people have gained those achievements through hard work,
labor and sheer will. If you watch carefully, there are tons of intelligent beings around the globe but some of
which are not successful. Instead, these people just don't have the conditions to grow to the opportunity.
Poor and born disabled can be intelligent but due their inability it's quite unlikely for them to be how they
actually want to be like.
IQ, which stands for intelligence quotient, is another way to quantify a human's intelligence. It is
calculated by dividing the mental age by chronological age and is multiplied by 100. The average score is
about 90-100 and this is for most of the people. The higher it is, the more intelligent the person is. Well-
known scientists such as Albert Einstein or Stephen Hawking were believed to have had an IQ of 160.
However, intelligence isn't only about science or math. It can be divided into numerous types such as
linguistics which is an ability to speak and write, musical, kinesthetic and naturalistic plus many more. Each
of them represents how intelligent the person is in that field. There can be lots more different kinds of
areas of intelligence but it's hard to determine whether they can truly be called intelligence.
There has been a new kind of intelligence being introduced to the society called 'Emotional intelligence'
and this is the ability to identify, assess other's emotions, as well as controlling one's own emotions
effectively. Specifically, "emotion regulation" refers to the ability to control and productively use one's
emotions to their advantage. People who have high emotion regulation tend to obtain higher test scores or
are highly socially adept.
Intelligence is a complex thing to describe as it can be measured in lots of ways thus it can’t be
measured solely through a person’s success.
