DAY72
UNEXPECTED EARLY SURGERY
Feelings that we haven’t had for several months unexpectedly
came roaring back today.
6:00 AM.......We just got a call from Heidi telling us that they were on
their way to the hospital. During the early morning hours, Alyssa's
intestines started to come through the ostemy (the hole in her side for
the stoma bag). The surgeon will determine this morning whether he will
try to push them back in so that they will remain in place, or do the
intestinal surgery to re-attach the ends now. So we are waiting by the
phone for Heidi's call back.
6:45 AM......Alyssa is in no pain and is sleeping.
7:20 AM......The Surgeon on duty thinks they should do the surgery this
morning. In cases like this, another Surgeon will be coming shortly to
make his evaluation. But most likely, Alyssa will have the surgery today.
So Kathie and I headed to Wilmington.
