DAY81
GETTING ANXIOUS NOW
Alyssa lost 6 ounces at her weigh-in today. But that reduction
was most likely from the reduction in fluid build-up that had
occurred after her second surgery. You can see the puffiness
going away.
After church today, we spent the afternoon taking nursery
furniture over to Jim and Heidi’s home and helping them to get
Alyssa’s room set up. Eighty days ago, that activity was the
furthest from any of our minds. But thanks to God’s mercy, we
are very close now to Alyssa’s homecoming. She just needs to
get that temperature control thing in her body working properly.
This evening Jim and Heidi drove back to Dupont to assist in
Alyssa’s 8 PM care time, which included a bath. The Nurse
Practitioner told them that they would now try to feed Alyssa on
her schedule (when she awakes from being hungry) rather than
by the clock. So, if she awakes in 3 hours, she will be given 40 ml
of milk, and if she awakes in 4 hours, they will give her 50 ml.
They are also hoping to eliminate the supplemental tube
feeding as soon as possible.
