The Surgeons were backed up with a lot of procedures today, so it wasn’t until 8:00
PM that the Surgeon on duty was able to consult with the Care Team and discuss the
situation with Jim and Heidi. He told them that the game plan was to take another
X-ray tonight and in the morning and see if there was any change in the bloating. He
explained that there was a partial clearing in the intestine and he wanted to see if it
would relax enough during the night to let the stool pass through. Occasionally these
conditions will resolve themselves without the need for further intervention. The
next 12 to 24 hours would tell.
Alyssa gave Kathie one more smile while she was helping to hold her plug in, and
then the four of us gathered around her to pray. We prayed for a miracle from God
while we slept.
I was sure by now
That You would have reached down
And wiped our tears away
Stepped in and saved the day
But once again, I say "Amen", and it's still raining
As the thunder rolls
I barely hear Your whisper through the rain
"I'm with you"
And as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise the God who gives
And takes away
I'll praise You in this storm
And I will lift my hands
For You are who You are
No matter where I am
Every tear I've cried
You hold in Your hand
You never left my side
And though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm
