DAY100
THE JOURNEY CONTINUES
It is hard to believe that this journey has now been going on for
100 days. And unfortunately, we are not in a position to even
predict an end date yet. When some of Alyssa’s health issues go
away, it seems that new ones always show up. Today, she had
more trouble holding her body temperature. So much so that
the nurse placed her back in a heated incubator (a major step
backwards).
We did get some very good new today regarding Alyssa’s eyes.
Prayer is being answered. The ROP is still at the same stage, but
because her eyes have grown, the condition is moving to the
perimeter (a much better location to have it). Think about it…
her eyes grew that much since Tuesday – only 3 days ago – to
have a new diagnosis today! God is answering our prayers in a
very remarkable way! So, there is no need for treatment at this
time. The Doctor will check her again on Wednesday or
Thursday. Please pray that the condition continues to move and
resolve itself.
Alyssa started eating again today – not breast milk (that will
begin on Saturday) – but Pedialyte (a non-dairy supplement).
The care team is proceeding very cautiously and slowly on this,
and checking her belly on a regular basis. Please pray that her
digestive system will function as it should.
Heidi’s final text to me today: “Alyssa is very cranky and all she
wants is her Mommy to hold her”. I think that is quite evident in
the photo – don’t you?
