with.  The Foster Home (host family) is paid by a Foster Home Agency, but the

               host family will own or lease the place where the individual resides.


               Independent Living Services - Adults with developmental disabilities require
               varying levels of assistance with regard to independent living instruction and
               training. Adult clients who express an interest in acquiring or maintaining the
               skills that will allow them to live and participate in their community in the least
               restrictive environment may be provided with independent living skills (ILS)

               training and supports through regional center funding. ILS services focus on the
               following areas:

                     Establishing an independent and safe home environment, including the
                       selection of a home and assistance with moving.

                     Meeting essential personal needs such as home maintenance, meal
                       planning, budgeting.
                     Participation in community life such as mobility, safety awareness and
                       community resources

               Individual Program Plan (IPP) – is a document that lists goals that the
               individual wants to accomplish.  The steps necessary and services and supports
               that the individual needs in order to accomplish these goals are identified, as well

               as the funding source.  The Regional Center Service Coordinator facilitates the
               process to develop the IPP.   This is called the IPP meeting.

               In-Home Support Services (IHSS) - The IHSS Program will help pay for services
               provided so that individuals can remain safely in their own homes. To be eligible,
               you must be over 65 years of age, or disabled, or blind.  Disabled children are also

               potentially eligible for IHSS.  IHSS is considered an alternative to out-of-home
               care, such as nursing homes or board and care facilities.

               The types of services which can be authorized through IHSS are housecleaning,
               meal preparation, laundry, grocery shopping, personal care services (such as
               bowel and bladder care, bathing, grooming and paramedical services),
               accompaniment to medical appointments, and protective supervision for the
               mentally impaired.  (This term is referenced within the instructions for BI-48
