4 FOOTBALL VICTORIA - Empowering Lives through Football Program

          THE PROGRAM





          The FOOTBALL VICTORIA - EMPOWERING LIVES THROUGH FOOTBALL program is an early intervention,
          capacity-building, community initiative that aims to use football themes to empower the lives of young people
          ‘at risk’ in communities across Victoria.

          The program is a partnership with the Victorian State Government through the Hon. Natalie Hutchins, Minister
          for Crime Prevention, Minister for Corrections, Minister for Youth Justice, and Minister for Victim Support.

          The FOOTBALL VICTORIA - EMPOWERING LIVES THROUGH FOOTBALL program is funded by the
          Victorian Government’s Community Crime Prevention Program.






          Young People ‘AT RISK’



          The young people targeted for this program include those that suffer from low self-esteem, are dealing with
          peer pressure, at risk of offending, low level truancy, and/or those experiencing challenges in preparing for daily
          life that disengage them from family and the greater community.

          Eligible participants can range in age from 12 – 17 years.








          Our Aims



          The FOOTBALL VICTORIA - EMPOWERING LIVES THROUGH FOOTBALL program is designed to target
          early intervention, to support and engage male and female young people who are disengaged from daily life,
          are suffereing from low self-esteem and self-worth, at risk of offending, or are already displaying behaviours
          that may limit their ability achieve positive life outcomes.

          Specifically the program aims to…

          •   Provide and help instil protective responses that young people can use to address risk factors for offending.
          •   Provide additional support to at-risk young people during COVID-19, and as communities recover from the
             disruption of COVID-19.
          •   Identify and refer at-risk young people to on-going services and support, as needed, and support young
             people to engage in these services.
          •   Increase school attendance, and family connectivity.
          •   Support individuals to build a greater sense of belonging, self-confidence, and social skills.
