THE PROGRAM
Program Outcomes
Build Capability and Capacity
Each young person in the program was identified by Victoria Police, or other expert agency, and where
appropriate, families and other significant individuals were informed of the progress of individuals, and invited
to partake in the celebration of their achievements, at the completion of the program.
Success will be measured across Phases 1 and 2 against the level in which program participants have
embraced and implemented new skills, and acquired specific course accreditation.
The premise of these outcomes is that these positive behaviours and achievements will build capability and
capacity, and boost confidence and self-esteem, so that participants are able to redirect their path in life, and
properly prepare for Phase 2 of the program, which will include practical and face-to-face activities.
Undertake a potential-fulfilling journey
Paramount to the success of each individual’s involvement in the program was their willingness to participate,
and commit to undertaking a powerful, personal, and potential-fulfilling journey.
Integral to their commitment across phases will be the development of individual participant plans, in
collaboration with program staff, where each participant will be asked to identify the personal and social
outcomes they wish to achieve by the end of the program, and a statement of goals they have for the future.
These outcomes will be aligned with key themes that are at the core of the program such as, health and
fitness, personal wellbeing, cultural identity, leadership and confidence, and pathways to education/training/
employment.
Wellbeing and Reconnecting
Across phases it is envisaged that personal program outcomes across the participant cohort will include the…
• Increased insight into feelings of wellbeing and cultural connection
• Return to school/reduction in truancy
• Connection to further training opportunities, or other services as required
• Positive re-connection with family for those who can return home, and access to support services for those
who cannot
• Reduction in reported contact with police
• Reduction in alcohol/drug dependence
• Transition to on-going engagement in football
• Increased understanding of the services and pathways available to them
• Connections made to additional services or supports, as relevant.
