Acknowledgement
of Country
We wish to acknowledge the custodians and traditional owners of this land and
their elders past and present.
We acknowledge and respect their continuing culture and the contribution they
make to this region.
We acknowledge the traditional owners, past present and emerging.
It is of note that Aboriginal people were once a majority in their own land, they
are now a minority, and we recognise the role RFDS has to play in service our
first nation people.
The RFDS Reconciliation Action Plan can be accessed at Royal Flying Doctors
Service - First Australians.
The plague reminds us of a dark time in our treatment in Tasmania and
Australia of Aboriginal people.
I also need to qualify some of our terminology, and in doing so apologise to
any Aboriginals in the audience, what we call remote and very remote they call
home.
