Introduction
RFDS has operated in remote and rural areas of Australia
since 1928, more than 90 years.
The level of health inequity between rural/remote and metropolitan
populations remains unacceptably too high.
There are major failings in our health system, e.g. dental.
Tasmania has amongst the worst health outcomes in Australia.
RFDS was created to address access issues, innovation is the key.
A focus on health promotion and prevention is a focus well overdue.
Lifestyle factors contribute to our poor health outcomes, as
does poor health literacy. A common contributory cause, low
socio-economic status.
The social determinates of health are critical.
