BRIMBANK LIVE
BACKGROUND
In 2020, Brimbank Council Neighbourhood House
program, in partnership with MAKING MEDIA AUSTRALIA,
broadcast locally, nationally and internationally, the
BRIMBANK LIVE PROJECT on online radio station, LIVE FM.
As part of this ground-breaking initiative, members of the
Sydenham Neighbourhood House program were
provided with the opportunity to produce, co-host and
broadcast more than 100 hours of live and
pre-recorded radio content during BRIMBANK LIVE
WEEK (Phase 1) in May - June, and
BRIMBANK LIVE - FRIDAYS LIVE on LIVE FM
(Phase 2) between August and December.
The focus of the content produced aimed to
educate the community, provide a platform for
shared experiences, showcase talent and skills,
generate discussion, celebrate culture and
diversity, capacity-build for careers, and bring the
community together, on a real world media
platform.
Working in media teams, participants were tasked
with the responsibility to present, produce and
promote their radio programs. To support their work, all
participants underwent basic raining in radio hosting,
presenting, interviewing and producing.
The live radio content produced was made available to the
community in the form of podcasts and video for on-demand
listening and viewing.
