RECOMMENDATIONS

Using the findings derived from comprehensive feedback sourced from 81 survey respondents, the following 10
recommendations are offered to the Football Victoria board for its consideration.
RECOMMENDATION 1.

CREATE A FULL TIME ROLE FOR A HISTORICAL OFFICER ROLE AT FOOTBALL VICTORIA

Recommendation 1 is in response to feedback received on page 26 - BRINGING OUR HISTORY TO LIFE.

It is recommended that Football Victoria create a new position on its staff for a Football Victoria Historical Officer.

In telling its history, the game is launching from a low base therefore the position should be a full time role, and would
entail creating an action plan for the curation of the history of Victorian football consistent with Football Victoria’s 2023
Strategic Plan.

RECOMMENDATION 2.
CREATE A STANDALONE HISTORY OF VICTORIAN FOOTBALL WEBSITE LINKED TO A

LANDING PAGE ON THE FOOTBALL VICTORIA WEBSITE

Recommendation 2 is in response to feedback received on page 34 - WHERE SHOULD THE HOME OF VICTORIAN
FOOTBALL HISTORY BE?

It is recommended that Football Victoria create a standalone website dedicated to the history of Victorian football.

The website needs to be a living and breathing digital platform with constant uploading and sharing of content across
promotional platforms.

RECOMMENDATION 3.
ENSURE THE FOOTBALL VICTORIA HISTORICAL COMMITTEE CONSISTS OF MEMBERS
FROM RELEVANT SECTORS OF THE GAME

Recommendation 3 is in response to feedback received on page 30 - THE FOOTBALL VICTORIA HISTORICAL COMMITTEE.

It is recommended that Football Victoria ensure that, as a prerequisite, all members of its historical committee are
appropriately driven, committed and energised to tell the story of the game in a meaningful and impactful way.

Members of this committee should include Victorian football historians, Former players, Club administrators, Football fans, a
representative from Football Victoria and Football Media.

RECOMMENDATION 4.
ACTIVELY SEEK WORLD’S BEST PRACTICE ADVICE IN CURATING THE GAME’S HISTORY

Recommendation 4 is in response to feedback received on page 31 - ENSURING WORLD’S BEST PRACTICE IN THE
CURATION OF OUR HISTORY.

It is recommended that Football Victoria supports its historical committee (and historical officer, if appointed), by inviting a
world’s best practice expert in the curation of history to be part of the committee or to be an advisor to the committee.
