The NCISS Legislative Advisory Board (LAB) assists supporting member state associations monitor state
legislative activity! Is your state and association represented?

         From the NCISS Legislative Committee

NCISS 2020 – Here We Go!

Let me be the first to wish you a successful 2020! At NCISS we are preparing for a breakout year. This year, the NCISS
board wanted to show support to our state associations and bring NCISS to our greatest asset, our members.

Please mark your calendars for the following:

               • May 5-8, 2020 – NCISS Annual Convention, Hosted in Coordination with South Carolina Association
of Licensed Investigator (“SCALI”) Annual Conference.

               • September 17-20, 2020 – NCISS Mid-Term Meeting, Hosted in Coordination with the Arizona
Association of Licensed Private Investigators (“AALPI”) Annual Conference.

We are happy to support both South Carolina and Arizona investigators in a joint event. We are particularly
proud to go west of the Mississippi to visit our western friends. If your organization has an interest in
partnering with NCISS please let us know.

Legislatively, we have a very busy 2020. It is also likely that we will see movement on the proposed Data
Privacy Bill in Congress in 2020. This bill has the potential to change how you do business. Similar to the FCRA
or the DPPA, this bill will change how you get data and the responsibility you have with it. Although it is early
to tell, this issue is one we will be watching.

We are still monitoring state deregulation on multiple fronts. This issue is one that our Legislative Advisory
Board (“LAB”) is discussing and dealing with on a regular basis. LAB is the group of NCISS association members
that meet regularly by conference call to discuss national and state issues. LAB is a great resource for state and
local associations to inform them of similar issues and provide legislative support directly to the association.

We anticipate a very heated fight in protecting our access and use of data. It is vitally important to represent
your interests in Congress. Please consider joining us for our regular meetings and being an NCISS member.
