Past President Maria Vinson Landry lost her husband Kenny to COVID. Maria said that Kenny fought a courageous battle.
Kenny and Maria lived outside of New Orleans. He was a well-known private investigator in Louisiana. The Vinsons are
well known supporters of NCISS for three generations.

        From their children:
Sometimes God takes the best people early, and he gained one of the
best. We are heartbroken and thankful for the time we had with him.

We have so many countless incredible stories and memories. We all
leaned on our father for help and guidance when needed the most.
He always had a way to make any difficult situation feel achievable
and he was always right. He had a voice you could recognize from
across a room. He loved people. He loved conversations. So much so
that he dominated every one of them. The truth is that we lost a great
person, a great husband, a great father, a great brother, a great
father-in-law, a great paw paw, and a great friend to many.

He accomplished so much in his 68 years. A marriage full of love, 4
children that he would do anything for, 6 grandchildren that he
adored, a successful career as a top private investigator, many great and close true friends, a bunch of hobbies, a close
relationship with God, and a true love for life.

Our dad’s legacy is in the stories he left behind. These are amazing stories of him told by his family and friends. These
stories represent the power of his life in so many of our hearts. He will be greatly missed, but his stories will carry on for
        generations.

He will be missed and cherished by so many.

Lessons Learned – 20 Years After Murder on a Sunday Morning (Adam Tebrugge, Esq.)
Murder On a Sunday Morning – Academy Award Winning Documentary
(Eddie McClain – NCISS President Emeritus and Brian McGuinness, CLI – NCISS Past President)
Earlier this year Florida defense attorney Pat McGuinness passed away after a long battle with cancer. This documentary
was 20 years ago and the murder was in May of 2000. This was brought to the attention of NCISS by Pat’s brother, Brian
a fellow CLI / criminal defense investigator. The lessons from this case may be 20 years ago – and they are with us today
and our future. Steve Kirby (retired, Edward R. Kirby & Associations – IL; and investigator in “Making a Murderer”
appeals) had this to say, “I watched it just yesterday on YouTube -- it is a riveting story, but more importantly to us as a
profession - shows the importance of pre-trial investigation.”
