Hello Chuck from the band Oney and welcome to Rocknation.
Congrats on releasing the “ONEY the Legacy” CD on Demon Doll
Records this year. Please tell us about that CD.
First off, thank you for having me. Demon Doll Records Music group contacted
us and told us that folks have been contacting them about releasing our stuff
because it had been out of print for a bit and when Shock Tu asked them “Why
haven’t you contacted ONEY? We were then reached out to. We live in the
same town as a couple of those guys and I attended a couple of reunion shows
they had the last few years. “ONEY -The Legacy” disc is a compilation of the
EP we put out back in 1989 called “Good Guys Wear Black” that was recorded
in 1988/1989 and our full length called “Bust Em Down” that was recorded
1991/1992 but was never released until 2006. All the songs are on it plus the
original running order we had for “Bust Em Down”. Also a cover when we
reunited in 2007 and a live song from the reunion that we recorded at the
    legendary club The Alrosa Villa.

Your solo concerts has shared the stage with some big name bands, please tell us about that.
I have shared a few solo shows with John Corabi and one with Mike Tramp. Both guys were great to me and seemed like long lost pals the
moment I met them. They are very down to earth and sound amazing solo acoustic. Great singers and what great songs to choose from!!!
Like me they always play a few surprising covers in their sets. I’d love to do it again after COVID.

ONEY reunited in 2007 to play the Rocklahoma festival in 2008. What was that experience like?
All I can say is have you ever seen the Adam Sandler movie “Grown Ups?” I got to experience that in real life. I got to hang out with my best
friends from my twenties, 20 years later and it was weird man. Guys fell back into the roles they had back then, you know, the guy always
complaining, the guy that never talked, the guy that was at the party at the wrong time, and the guy who wanted you to fix every little
problem. Butwe had a younger Roadie/Friend with us who wasn’t around in our heyday. We crammed so much fun in a week. We got to know
the behind the scenes staff and crew at Rocklahoma and they treated us like big Rockstars. If we were walking along they would pick us up
in a cart and escort us backstage with the Big Bands. We weren’t supposed to be there!!Lol. As far playing, I have never been so soaked on
a stage in my life the downpour came from nowhere. They told us to keep playing until the Krank guitar amps guy noticed all his amps
getting soaked and made them stop our set. When the 2 stages collapsed. I was backstage on the mainstage watching Trixter when the
winds hit. Everyone huddled in the back area. I was next to Eddie Trunk who was freaked OUT! I tried to talk to him somewhat but he
seemed upset. I got to see some really great sets from Ace Frehley, LA Guns & Tesla. When the stages collapsed and we thought they
would cancel the whole night, we ended up at a low key bar having drinks with Queensryche,Trixter& Big Cock.

In 2014 you released a solo record called “Shimmering Hearts”. Please tell us about that release.
That was my first solorecording, no band just me, since 1987. I played 90% of all the instruments and did most of the singing. It came out
great and I am actually almost done with my next one until COVID hit. But yeah it was a great first start and I really enjoyed not having to
compromised to have folks get their 2 cents in and if a part was too hard for me to play, I brought in friends. The Song “Dear Miss Roberts”
won “Best Rock Song of 2015” at the Ohio Music Awards. The music has also been on some regional Emmy winning TV shows.

What national bands have you shared the stage while playing in ONEY ?
Some great ones! Helix, Leatherwolf, Faster Pussycat, Tuff, ChildsPlay, Peter Criss, Bullet Boys, Nelson, Mark Slaughter & EnuffZ’Nuff who
we are still friends with to this day.

Thank you for taking time for this interview and any last words to the fans?
Thanks for having me. I am truly amazed how something I did 30 years ago still connects
with music fans. I am grateful ONEY got to reunite and we still play one show a year for fans.
For those who wonder what I did after ONEY, check out the band The Vague (“Divorcing
The Shame & Fussy”). Also keep an eye out for a new solo released in 2021 by liking me on
Facebook and THANK YOU Rocknation Readers!!! It’s been a pleasure!!
