ROCKNATION ISSUE 22
Can you name some of the tracks for this release and anything about
them?
One of my favorites is a song called LIAR, it’s so high energy. The guitar, bass
and drums are just driving the whole song. It really gets my blood pumping, it’s
the perfect song to open up a show with!! Another one I like a lot is called THE
ONE YOU LOVE TO HATE. The lyrics to both these songs are really dark and
they reflect the things that I was dealing with at the time. It’s really weird how
some people take pleasure in watching you fail or struggle at something. This
song takes all that negativity and turns it back around. All that you are doing by
hating me and wanting me to fail is making me stronger and more determined to
succeed. The lyrics on just about every song this time around dealt with things
that I was going through or things that my close friends were going through.
Have you decided what songs will be made into Videos yet and if yes what
concepts are you going for?
We haven’t yet and believe it or not that’s a good thing! Usually when we do an
album we know right away what song we are going to do a video for. You always want to put out your best song and it’s
usually really obvious what the best track is but with this album, every song in my opinion is good enough to be the video song.
We just can’t decide, every one of them is strong and they would all represent the album well. We may end up doing a few
videos if the budget permits.
What future shows are you excited about coming up?
Now that the album is done we are gonna switch gears and start planning out our tour. In the past we have toured all over the
USA and have been fortunate to have opened up shows for Kiss, Poison, Whitesnake, Cinderella, Ratt and Warrant to name
a few. Hopefully we can put some cool shows together this time around as well.
You live in Atlanta, Georgia. What is the music scene like there in the last few years?
It has been really strong the past 10 years. People still go out and support live music and there is a lot of comradery between
the bands.
Any funny stories or encounters you had from fans at shows you can tell us about recently or past?
When I was younger I always liked to tell road stories and talk about all the crazy stuff that happens but I think my big mouth
has gotten a few people in trouble so I’m gonna keep all that stuff to myself. I’ll just say this, being in a band has got to be the
funnest job on the planet. I wouldn’t trade a second of it!!!
What plans do you have for 2016?
First up is getting a video out, then we have a bunch of promo stuff that we will be doing to help promote the album. By the
summer we will more than likely be hitting the road again. As soon as we get all the dates set up we will be announcing it on
our website at www.madmargritt.com
Thank you for taking time for this interview
and last words to the fans?
I have to tell you, we have some amazing fans.
People who have stuck with us year after year
and have been so supportive. We appreciate
every single one of them. We have been
working really hard on this album and we are
so excited about it. This is easily our best work,
we cant wait to share it with everyone!!!
