METALLICA in BOSTON

In late October Metallica kicked off their first North America tour in four years
in support of their latest release, Death Magnetic. The album, a kickback to the
sound of their earlier days, has been a huge success so it’s no surprise that the
tour has sold out from coast to coast. On a snowy night in New England Metal-
lica rolled into town and even Mother Nature could not stop the capacity crowd of
18,000 from showing up. As smoke filled the air and green lasers pierced the sky
the quartet stormed the 360 degree stage to a wave of beckoning screams. They
played for over two hours covering new songs, old songs and a little big of every-
thing in between. Standouts were Harvester of Sorrow, Enter Sandman and Seek
and Destroy where the crowd was treated to a rainstorm of inflated balls with the
Metallica logo on them. For a band who has seen their share of sold out stadiums,
they played their hearts out from start to finish with a passion that is often only
found in the greenest of musicians. It’s nice to know that even the Rock Royalty
that is Metallica still knows how to tear a house down. Metallica was recently
voted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, not a moment too soon.
