VIDEO
SHOOT
We knew early on that “Born of Stone” would be the first video we would undertake from our debut cd
“Untapped” from DROUGHT. It is such a powerful and emotional song that it was imperative that we find the
right production team to bring that emotion out and have a justified interpretation of the song. We teamed
up with Dream.Work.Conquer.Films www.dwcfilms.com from Dallas, TX after we saw their body of work and
spoke with director, Jeff Adair. We had a concrete idea for the video that we knew would take several casting
calls and several locations. Jeff scouted the perfect areas for the video shoot in East Texas. A large portion
of the video was shot on the property he grew up on. The video shoot was completed in two solid days. The
actors cast for the video were so believable that I found myself extremely connected to the story. I always had
the idea the band and the actors would remain separate. That separation adds a much needed realism to the
story the song is trying to tell. The band had a great time in Athens, Texas; a small, quaint town in East Texas
that was a perfect backdrop to the storyline. We had a few locals come out to the video shoot and we got to
sign some cd’s and take some pictures. We need to go back there and play during our Texas tour this August
as we promised to do. The young actor, Logan Mikulas, got ill Saturday night and had to go to the
local hospital, but he toughed it out and was there bright and early Sunday to give it his all. After all the
footage was shot, the post-production of the video took a few weeks where Jeff teamed up with Ludus
Studios www.ludusstudios.com. The finished video was beyond our expectations. We showed it to some
friends and family and the reaction from everyone was the same; overwhelmed at the quality and over-
whelmed with emotion. Look for Drought’s video release for “Born of Stone” on YouTube or at our website

The video shoot for “Born of Stone” began
on a Friday night in Dallas, Texas at a
production studio that had a few rooms
needed for the actor scenes including the
hospital room seen here. It was a long
night; this picture was taken after the wrap
with Shannon and Mike Mikulas, the
bassist and singer from Drought.
The second day of the video shoot commenced late
morning for the band passage. Drought and the
production crew were on location in Athens, Texas
in a VFW hall that was scouted specifically by
director for the ambiance and lighting. Late
morning was key for the shot. The light just poured
in through the windows for an ethereal effect.
