What would you say is different in writing and recording ‘The Darkest Part Of Me’
compared to your last CD ‘Seize the Night’?
Generally speaking, it is evident that there is a major improvement concerning our
music skills, both at composing and playing the instruments. Compared to our debut
album, there are lots of influences from other music genres as well, which led to a more
versatile result. There are definitely some songs for you in this album, regardless of what
kind of music you are fond of. Regarding the sound, ‘The Darkest Part Of Me’ has a more
modern and fuller approach than ‘Seize The Night’ and concerning the lyrics, I firmly
believe the new album has a lot more to say in comparison with the debut, due to the fact
that the lyrics are mostly based on actual facts and less on fiction.
How do you feel the band has evolved musically and personally over the last year?
A lot! The whole process of creating a new album results in the evolution of every
participant and consequently the whole band. Apart from the skills gained from the
recording, producing and mixing experience though, there is definitely a significant
change on a personal level as well. However, this is something that had an impact on
the writing process and vice versa, meaning that personal growth is both a key element
to composing, but also a result of this process.
If you had to tell someone what Rain Or Shine sounded like, what bands would you mention?
It’s really hard to tell. We’re definitely influenced by melodic hard rock bands from the 80s and the 90s such as Bon Jovi,
Talisman, Europe and Giant as well as modern bands such as Shinedown, Nickelback and Sixx A.M., but I can’t say that the
final result, especially in the second album, sounds exactly like one of these bands. Because of the fact that the influence
comes from lots of different bands of different genres (not only rock music), the result is actually something new.
Please tell us about your videos you have released.
We have one lyric video for the single ‘Seize The Night’ and a video for the acoustic version of the song ‘Believe’ from the first
album. For ‘The Darkest Part Of Me’ album, we have released three lyrics videos for the songs ‘Top Of The World’, ‘Shot Of
Life’ and ‘Back On Track’ and have some more videos planned for the future.
How has Social Networking like Twitter and Facebook worked for your band and which one is better for you?
Social Networking has worked perfect for Rain Or Shine. We got to communicate with fans from all around the globe, announce
stuff and attract more people. Rain Or Shine is not a full band and as a result does not perform live. Thus, most people got to
know about this music project through social networking. It’s the
only way to promote our music on our own. We use all of the
popular platforms: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, but
Facebook and YouTube have proved to be the most helpful till now.
What plans do you have for 2019?
I will try not to give away too much. You can expect some more
videos from Rain Or Shine, at least one acoustic version of one
song from the new album and a few more surprises throughout the
year. Our goal is promoting our new album as much as
possible.
Thank you for taking time for this interview. Any last words to
the fans?
You’re welcome! I would like to thank you and everyone that in
one way or another supports our endeavor and shares our music
to other people. It means the world to us and spreading the word
from mouth to mouth really helps us a lot with the promotion of the
album. Apart from that, if you like our new album and you haven’t
already done so, go and get the CD of ‘The Darkest Part Of Me’ out
from Perris Records or contact us to get your copy. This way, we will
be able to make more albums in the future. Cheers!
