4. Describe why you are valuable
Make yourself stand out against other candidates or work colleagues
by describing your unique skills and experience in your introduction.
An interesting introduction can jump-start an interview or, if you’re
in a group setting, can attract attention away from important contacts.
Consider what makes you a valuable candidate for a position or a good
contact to have. Include your most memorable strengths in your
introduction.
5. Recognize the culture
Being respectful of customs is an important part of making a good
impression. Investigate the company you’re interviewing with to learn
as much as you can about their company culture so that you can
customize your introduction to them. You may feel more comfortable
using a casual tone if they are casual company. If you’re attending an
event, do some research on the event’s formality.
Examples of Introducing oneself:
“My name is Imam Fauzi, and I’m a software specialist with five years
of language programming experience. I enjoy working on healthcare
software to provide simple services to those in need. I graduated with
honors from the National University of Singapore. I’m excited to
interview for this position because this company represents innovation
in healthcare software, which is something I’m very excited about.”
”Hello, my name is Khalid. I’m the store manager, and I will coach
you today. I’ve been a manager for three years and have worked at the
store for six years. I’ve worked in every position in the store, so I can
answer any questions you have about your job or your coworkers. I
mostly handle payroll and scheduling, so if you have any questions
about those, please feel free to contact me. We’re delighted to have
you on board!”
