II. ACTIVITES / PROJECTS TO ACHIEVE OBJECTIVES
Extension is the heart of the University. It is the arm of the University that goes to the
community so people will feel the love, the care, and compassion through the Extension activities
because people don't care how much you know until they know and feel how much you care.
The College of Business and Management where BSHRM/BSHM is being offered, is active
in participating and conducting extension& trainings to the communities to achieve E&T
objectives. Students together with the faculty members prepare project and training proposals
abiding the implementing guidelines of the University as follows:
1. Assessment of the Environment - The BSHM program in consonance to perform
the fourfold functions in instruction, research, extension and production, follows policy directions
in the management, administration and support systems in the planning and implementation of
research, extension and training programs for the furtherance of its vision, mission, goals and
objectives. Thus, all extension and trainings conducted strives to empower communities to foster
development and a better quality of life of the people. This was done by working closely with the
Local Government Units and other government agencies that are directly in touch with the local
people.
Training Needs Assessment (TNA) is the method used by the college to determine the
existing training/acquired training, and, if it does, what training is required to fill the gap. It also
seeks to identify accurately the levels of the present situation in the target surveys, interview,
observation, secondary data and/or workshop. The gap between the present status and desired
status may indicate problems that in turn can be translated into a training need. The results of the
TNA provides then the college the information and skills development requirements of all
members of the college. It is one of the key steps in preparing a training plan and will provide
information on which to base the college’s training plan.
2. Priority Setting - Pre-planning activities between faculty and students who will be
acting as proponents are always done to interpret the results of TNA. The pre-planning activity of
the college discusses the identified gap between the current and needed trainings; determine the
general content of training should be; formulate the foundation of the training plan, provision a
baseline for the evaluation of a training plan; how to deliver appropriate and relevant trainings to
the community and maximization of scarce resources. . The results of the pre-planning activities
are being endorsed to the Campus E&T Chairperson for further discussion during Stakeholders
Meeting. The involvement of partner agencies is really a great help for Extension Activities
implementation and sustainability.
3. Extension and Training Proposal Preparation - E&T proposals are being
prepared in line with the identified needs of the community with consideration to the flagship
priorities of the Local Government Units and Program Banners of the IFSU Department of
Extension and Training. The training proposals cover and strengthen indigenous technologies and
the dissemination of matured technologies generated by the research undertakings of the college.
4. Extension Program, Project Proposal Preparation, Evaluation and Approval.
- It is a must that college faculty and students prepare and submit training proposals as
committed and determined members of the University, to contribute in the attainment of the Goal
3 - Sustainable Extension and Community Engagement.
Project proposals are being reviewed during Agency In-House Review and usually
accomplishments/ outputs on the implementations are being presented to the same.
