With the organizational structure to systematize Extension and Trainings
operations and to execute the goals and objectives, the University has the Department of
Extension and Training or DET. DET is committed to deliver extension and training
programs to empower communities to foster development for better quality of life among
the people. This shall be done by working closely with the Local Government Units and
other government agencies which are directly in touch with the local people. The system
of operations is presented and explained in the Extension and Training Manual.
The general objective of the DET -To conduct community driven extension
activities geared to capacitate target communities with the knowledge, entrepreneurial
skills and right attitudes towards poverty alleviation for an improved quality of life is the
direction in the realization of IFSU Vision, Mission, Goals and Objectives. The general
objective draws the specific objectives as follows:
• To package and transfer knowledge and technologies responsive to the
needs of target communities.
• To intensify monitoring, evaluation and impact assessment of extension
programs/activities conducted for technical advisory and strategic planning.
• To intensify linkages and networking with other institutions at the local,
regional, national and international levels.
• To increase and capacitate extension and training human resources.
The set objectives actually anchored to the Extension Agenda Elements summed
as HAGGIYO! Haggiyo is an Ifugao dialect which means “go forward Ifugao”. That means
to fight poverty, attain progress and sustainable development, group effort through
participation, hard work and unity is needed to achieve it.
