The History of New Bern Alumnae Chapter

                          Soror Demetrics D. Davis
                     NC State Coordinator 2011-2016

              Soror Demetrics D. Davis, a native of Patrick, South Carolina, was initiated
              into Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. in 1979, through the Iota Chi Chapter
              at the University of South Carolina. She received a Bachelor of Science
              Degree in Criminal Justice (1982), and a Master of Science Degree in
              Criminal Justice (1989), both from the University of South Carolina.

                                  As a collegiate president (1983 to 1984), Soror Davis’ first involvement
                                  with a regional conference was in 1984 when it was hosted by the Columbia
                                  (SC) Alumnae Chapter and the area collegiate chapters, including Iota Chi.
                                  Ironically, the Regional Director was Soror Norma Sermon-Boyd, a
                                  member of New Bern Alumnae where Soror Davis would later become a
                                  member in 1990.

Soror Davis went on to experience her first appointment to the South Atlantic Regional Leadership
Team (1982 to 1984) under the administration of 8th South Atlantic Regional Director Bertha M.
Roddey, who later became the 20th National President of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. On multiple
occasions throughout her Delta life, Soror Davis has been a member of the Regional Leadership Team in
varying capacities (2003 to 2009 and 2011 to present), serving under the leadership of four Regional
Directors: Bertha M. Roddey; Yvette G. Robinson; Linda Richardson Wilson; and Andria M. Jeffries.

From 2003 to 2007, Soror Davis served as NC State Secretary;

and in 2007, she was appointed as South Atlantic Regional

Journalist, a position she held until 2009. In 2011, Soror Davis

was appointed to the position of NC State Coordinator, and

served until 2016. As NC State Coordinator, Soror Davis’s

responsibilities included coordinating the state meetings for

North Carolina’s more than 60 chapters, overseeing Delta Day

at the General Assembly, conducting workshops throughout the

region, assisting chapters in the planning of statewide Founders

Day activities, and assisting the Regional Director in executing

regional activities at the regional conferences and national June 25, 2016 Soror Tiffany Dove (President)

With New Bern Alumnae, Soror Davis has served as Recording Secretary (1991 to 1997), Vice
President (2000 to 2001), President (2001 to 2003), and on numerous committees including Chair of
Internal Development, Chair of Policies and Procedures, Journalist, and Chapter Webmaster. Most
notably, she served as President when the chapter hosted the Area Founders Day East in 2003, and
simultaneously celebrated its 50th anniversary. In 2010, Soror Davis was Co-Chair when the chapter
hosted the NC Spring State Meeting. Soror Davis was honored by her chapter in 2010 when she was
named New Bern Alumnae Chapter Delta of the Year.

Professionally, Soror Davis retired from the United States Probation Office for the United States District
Court in the Eastern District of North Carolina in 2012, after 22 years. At the time of retirement, she
had risen to the position of Deputy Chief U.S. Probation Officer.
