D. Language Features in Report Text

In the report text there are language features in it, including:
1. Use Simple Present Tense

Simple present tense is a sentence with a verb pattern that describes a
situation in the present. For example:

“People, with a television set in their houses, can sit and watch the
president make a speech or visit a foreign country.”

2. Using Action Verbs (action verbs), for example: Travel, Defend,
Live, and so on.

3. Using Passive voice

The passive voice is used to show interest in the person or object that
experiences an action rather than the person or object that performs
the action.
The passive voice in English is composed of two elements: 'to be' +
past

Example: A letter was written.

When rewriting active sentences in passive voice, note the following:

▪ the object of the active sentence becomes the subject of the

passive sentence
▪ the finite form of the verb is changed (to be + past participle)
▪ the subject of the active sentence becomes the object of the
passive sentence (or is dropped)
