Individual Rewriting
Remember that an instruction text usually comprises four sections? They are a title (goal),
material/equipment, steps, and Closing. Now, read the text again. Identify the sections and
put section’ name in column 1. Then identify the keywords and write them in the third
column. Based on the keywords, rewrite the sentences, and discuss your answer with your
other friends.
Structure Sentences Keywords Rewriting
1. • Mud, dirt, rain, and even salt sprinkle on
icy roads can attach themselves to the
surface of your car as you drive.
• While you might not notice these at first,
over time, the minerals that are in them
can cause damage to your paint job. For
this reason, it’s important to take time to
have your car washed on a regular basis.
2. You will need: •
• A car
• A wash mitt
• Two bucket of water
• One or two towels
• A few sponges
• Some car wash detergent
• A hose
• A brush
3. • Begin by filling your bucket with water.
While it is filling, make sure to put a
decent amount of car wash detergent into
the bucket along with sponges and the
wash mitt.
• After it is done, fill another bucket with
plain water to use as a rising bucket. 107
4. • Next, begin to hose down the car, this will
loosen the dirt on the car.
• You have to make sure to do this step very
well as you do not want to scratch your
car later while scrubbing.
5. • The wheels on your car are quite often the
messiest, dirtiest part of your car so, make
sure to scrub them with a brush
thoroughly to get all of the dirt on the
wheels.
6. • Begin to scrub your car with a washing
mitt, before so, make sure to soak your
