"red carpet" in the corridor. Chloe looked around and found four builders in
her kitchen drilling on the kitchen worktops. She said her old worktops were
wooden slates and now she's got an upgrade – granite. [2]
Viewers doubted that it was a mistake and suggested that the builders
wouldn't have managed to make the changes because of the layouts in
different homes. Chloe debunked the rumors and told Daily Star that in her
area, the homes were all 'cookie cutters' – they were in the exact same layout.
She was out grocery shopping and didn't lock her door because the area was
                       super safe. [3]
Recalling last year's "garden incident", which went viral on TikTok, Chloe
was certain that the builders were not from the same company. She mentioned
in that video that the builders were at the wrong house but she was not going
to stop them because she'd love to have free concrete – or a deck, whatever
                       they were building. [4]

The passage you have just read follows the structure of a factual recount. Let’s look at
the structure of the passage. The first paragraph functions as the introduction, telling the
readers about what they are going to read–a woman found her kitchen being renovated by
unknown builders. The sequence of events are presented in the second and third
paragraphs. The second paragraph tells how the woman found the four builders changed
the wooden worktop with granite. The third paragraph tells that viewers doubted the news
and that the woman removed these doubts by stating that the incident was made possible
by two facts–the area was safe and her house was left unlocked. The fourth paragraph

functions as a conclusion, stating that the woman did not mind the renovation for it was
               free.
