Before the Qingming Festival, mugwort, ramie leaves and other greens are at their freshest and
most nutritious, offering many health benefits. In some Hakka regions, pure mugwort or pure ramie
leaves are used to make these cakes, which are then called “Mugwort Rice Cakes” or “Ramie Rice
Cakes”.
