The PALACE
King Suddhodana recruited the best teachers in the kingdom to educate the Prince. The
Prince was very diligent in his learning and become a talented young man renown for his
wit and courage; full of love and compassion for fellow human and living beings.
The King was very troubled about the prophecy and gave orders to all his subjects not to

allow the Prince to leave the palace grounds to see the harsh realities of suffering, thereby The life in the Palace before
preventing him from taking up any kind of spiritual pursuit to become a Buddha. The Renunciation

At the age of 16 years, Prince Siddhartha married his cousin Princess Yasodhara and had a
son named Rahula, which means “fetter” or “obstacle”.

The Prince was bored with his royal life in the palace and was eager to see the world
outside. One day, the Prince pleaded with his father to allow him to leave the palace Teachers
grounds to meet his people so that he could be a better king when the time comes. King
Suddhodana hesitated but eventually gave the permission for him to do so.
