Explore the Khmer Smile

Stretching over 400 km², including forested area, Angkor Sunset at Angkor Wat
contains the magnificent remains of the different (联合国 UN: 2015)
capitals of the Khmer Empire, from the 9th to the 15th
century. They include the famous Temple of Angkor Wat
and, at Angkor Thom, the Bayon Temple.
Angkor Wat was constructed with blocks of sandstone.
The temple walls are decorated with about 800 foot- 巴戎寺
long bas-reliefs representing important deities and Prasat Bayon
(柬埔寨 Cambodia: 1998
figures in the Hindu and Buddhist religions.
The “Khmer Smile”, Bayon Temple stands in the center of
the city of Angkor Thom. There are many large faces
carved on the 48 tower give this temple its majestic ⾼棉的微笑
character. It is generally accepted that four faces on each Khmer Smile
of the tower are images of the bodhisattva. (柬埔寨 Cambodia: 2007)
