Leshan Maitreya Buddha

The Leshan Giant Buddha is a 71-metre tall stone statue
depicting Maitreya Buddha and was built between 713–
803 AD during the reign of the Tang Dynasty. It was
carved out of a cliff face that laid at the confluence of the
Min River and Dadu River in the southern part of Sichuan
province in China, near the city of Leshan. It is the largest
and tallest stone statue of Buddha in the world.
