2- Monocot Stem

1) Epidermis:- as in dicot stem

2) Ground tissue: -
The vascular bundles are scattered
throughout the ground tissue, so it is undifferentiated into cortex and pith.

- Hypodermis: - mostly sclerenchyma for supporting

3) Vascular Bundles: -

▪ large number of closed V.B. scattered irregularly through the ground tissues
▪ They are smaller and more crowded near the periphery of the stem than in the
center, where they are larger and less in number

-Type :-(closed collateral bundles).
-It may be surrounded by fiber, known as (bundle sheath)
-Xylem: vessels are arranged in V or Y shape

with endarch arrangement,
✓ Note: pith also is undifferentiated
Pith, M.R., limit of cortex, endodermis and pericycle are indistinguishable
