RADIX GLYCYRRHIZAE

Radix Glycyrrhizae, Liquorice and Sweet Root.

It is the dried peeled or unpeeled root and rhizome (stolon) of Glycyrrhiza
glabra L. and its varieties (Farn. Fabaceae). In several varieties, the drug is native
in the Mediterranean region, central to southern Russia, Spain and Asia Minor to
Iran. The drug comes from plantations and is imported from the former USSR,
Iran, Turkey, and China.
