                     Constituents
                     1. From 1.5 to 3.5 but not less than 1.5 % of volatile oil containing up to 90
              %  of  anethole.  The  oil  also  contains  chavicol  methyl  ether,  safrole,  and  anisic
              aldehyde and anisic acid due to atmospheric oxidation.
                     2. Fixed oil and proteins.

                     Uses
                     Anise is used as aromatic and carminative. The oil is used as a  flavoring
              agent and carminative.


















                                    3- FRUCTUS CORIANDER (Coriander Fruit)

                     Coriander. Coriandre. Coriandro. Koriander
                     Syn.: Coriandrum. KozbAra

                     Coriander  is  the  dried  ripe  fruits  of  Coriandrum  sativum  L.,  Family
              Umbelliferae. It contains not more than 5 % of foreign organic matter and yields
              not less than 0.3% v/w of volatile oil.

                     Coriander is cultivated in Russia, Hungary, North  Africa, and India. The
              unripe fruit has strong disagreeable odor whence the name coriander from a Greek
              name means a bug.
