1. An alkaloid with purgative action.
2. An amorphous resin with purgative action
3. Crystalline dihydroxy alcohol citrullol.
4. Glycoside cucurbitacin E.
5. From 1 to 1.3% of fixed oil.
Uses
▪ Gastro-intestinal stimulant and one of the most powerful purgatives i.e.,
cathartic purgative.
▪ It has a tumor necrosing activity.
