Allied drugs
▪ Japanese chilies, Derived of C.
frutescens. Fruits are 3-4 cm long free from pedicels and calices and have
bright red color. It is of the pungency of official drug.
▪ Bombay capsicum, Derived of C. annum. Pericarp is thicker and tougher
than the official drug. The pedicel is frequently bent. It is much less
pungent.
▪ Natal capsicums are larger, 8 cm long with a very bright red transparent
pericarp and are much less pungent than the chilies.
