Welcome!
Welcome, OTC members, to the 2021 Annual Conference, Building Equity into
the Transfer Equation!
We offer a warm, appreciative welcome to our keynote speaker, John Fink, from
the Community College Research Center (CCRC). John and his CCRC colleagues
have long been equity champions. We also welcome our breakout discussion
leaders, all seasoned transfer specialists, who will help us to explore various
aspects of equity in transfer.
Equity is indeed an issue that deserves our attention—with the number of
community college students transferring and completing bachelor degrees much
lower than the number wanting to do so. We hope that today’s conference will
give you the chance to consider the barriers impeding successful transfer/degree
completion and the techniques and programs that can mitigate these barriers.
We hope too that, through collaboration and commitment, we can together
discover new methods and partnerships that will eliminate transfer equity gaps
in the future.
