Q&A JAYNE DENHAM
w/
Your music videos have garnered significant
attention, including multiple No. 1 hits on CMT. How do
you approach the visual storytelling aspect of your
music, and what role do you believe music videos play
in enhancing the listener's experience?
{Jayne Denham} I think I have around 16 official music
videos now, so it's been a big part of what I do. I love just
listening to the songs and visualizing how they would
look if the picture were painted, and then working with
a great director who can bring my vision to life and add
flesh to the bones of my idea. Videos are a wonderful
tool to sell a song. A few years back, I got to work with
three of the Ice Road truckers in Alaska, and the epic
drone footage just added incredible visual pictures to

your live shows, and what can audiences
expect from your upcoming performances?
{Jayne Denham} The Wanted album changed my
live show and took it to a whole new level. I have
always had high energy, but with an album that
was Country Rock meets an old Western movie, I
had no choice but to introduce a costume and
become the wild woman character from the
album. We then added back-drop videos to help
tell the story from the western days. It was so
much fun to do this. There was only one other
artist here in Australia with video backdrops at
the time, Lee Kernaghan, so I was proud to be the
second and first female to add it to my entire
show. Then for Moonshine, I had a new jacket
made that's just incredible to create the vibe of a
Moonshine Boss lady, and adding it to the show
already has been fun. We are working on new
footage. In fact, we have some very cool old
footage of men in go karts racing in the dirt, and
another one I love is a slow-moving backdrop
that makes you feel like you are in the woods,
hiding your whisky still from the world. So I
cannot wait to get out on the road and take them
from an Old Western movie to the Virginia back
hills as we present the high-energy wild show
that is Jayne Denham.
