Arrival in Guisborough on the edge of the North York Moors Your holiday starts at Gisborough Hall country house, in the town of Guisborough. This Victorian hotel has a peaceful ambience, with a reputation for high-quality cuisine and attentive service. After checking in and meeting the Tour Manager, there%u2019s time to discover the town before dinner at our hotel. You could seek out the ruins of the ancient priory or wander along the high street with its shops, cosy caf%u00e9s and a friendly community spirit.Day 2. Robin Hood%u2019s Bay, Whitby & the North Yorkshire Moors Railway Setting out after breakfast, we drive to the coast, pausing at the picturesque village of Goathland, before arriving in the fishing village of Robin Hood%u2019s Bay. We hear stories about the bay%u2019s smuggling history on a guided tour, before continuing to the harbour town of Whitby. There%u2019s time to explore this iconic seaside town at your own pace, from its dramatic clifftop abbey to its cobbled streets and sandy beach. After visiting an award-winning fish and chips restaurant for lunch, you%u2019re at leisure to discover more of Whitby before we drive to the village of Grosmont to join the scenic North Yorkshire Moors Railway*. This steam-hauled heritage railway takes us through Yorkshire%u2019s best-loved landscapes, past ancient woodlands and heather-clad moors. We leave the train in Pickering and drive back to our hotel in time for dinner.Day 3. Castle Howard and the foodie town of MaltonOn Day 3 we drive to Castle Howard, one of England%u2019s most well-known stately homes, the setting for the TV series %u2018Brideshead Revisited%u2019. Set in the Howardian Hills, we have exclusive access to the house, enjoying private entrance before it opens to the public. We are also free to visit the beautiful Walled Garden, Atlas Fountain and Temple of the Four Winds which has fantastic views of the hilly landscape. We continue to the market town of Malton. Known as %u2018the food capital of Yorkshire%u2019, Malton showcases the region%u2019s celebrated cuisine. We join a Yorkshire Pudding masterclass, learning the secrets to this iconic Yorkshire dish, then take a walking food tour of the town%u2019s gastropubs and independent eateries, stopping for tastings enroute.There%u2019s time to discover the streets at your own pace after our tour. We return to our hotel, with time to unwind before dinner.Day 4. The Yorkshire Dales and Wensleydale RailwayDay 4 brings a trip to Wensleydale Creamery, home of the popular Yorkshire cheese. After looking around, seeing live cheese-making demonstrations and sampling the delicious produce, we are treated to an exclusive afternoon tea in Hawes. The Laburnum House Afternoon Tea celebrates the best of Yorkshire ingredients %u2013 Wensleydale, the Dales and Yorkshire %u2013 supporting British farming and Yorkshire%u2019s artisan food producers. We then head to Leyburn for a ride on the heritage Wensleydale Railway*. This scenic journey takes us through the idyllic Yorkshire Dales, passing farm meadows, rippling hills, and pretty villages. Leaving the train in Leeming Bar, we join our coach and head back to our hotel with time to relax before our final dinner.Day 5. Homeward boundAfter a leisurely breakfast, it%u2019s time to say our goodbyes and head home.
