Third acquisition by Ashtons
Harpenden based Home County Sales & Lettings (HCSL) has just been acquired by Hertfordshire based estate agency, Ashtons.
The deal is the company’s third acquisition in just fifteen months and sees HCSL join the Ashtons Group, currently operating with 120 staff in six commuter locations outside of the M25, within the A41-M1-A1 corridor.
Showroom style
Bramleys has renovated its
5,380 sq. ft. Huddersfield branch into a ‘property showroom’, in a move to attract vendors and buyers who want a modern way to buy or sell a home. Based at St George’s Square, in the same building it was founded in 1958, the salesroom has been transformed into a lounge style, designed to look like one of the £1m+ properties it lists for sale. A modern boardroom with video technology has been built to host meetings with commercial and developer clients.
The investment marks an intention to stay in the town centre for years to come, during a period when town centres have typically lost commercial tenants.
Commercial partner, Alex McNeil, said: “Huddersfield centre is rising from the ashes – it just needs some good PR. There have been vacant properties, but they’re being filled

Karl Judd, Managing Director of Ashtons said: “We are delighted to introduce the Home County Sales & Lettings business to our ever- expanding network. The business is perfectly aligned with our own values, focused on providing exceptional service levels.”
Liz Sibley, Director of Home County Sales & Lettings added; “I would like to thank all our loyal
customers who have supported me on my journey with HCSL. It is a day of rather mixed emotions for me, after 10 years at the helm whilst I am sad to be saying goodbye to our loyal clients, I am confident that I am leaving HCSL in very safe hands with Ashtons and they will continue to provide a first-class service.”
The HCSL business will now be based at Ashtons’ in Harpenden.
