DOYLE (MISFITS)
AT THE CLUNY, NEWCASTLE
Known primarily for his work in legendary US punk band Misfits, Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein has also released two albums under the Doyle moniker since 2013. The albums 'Abominator' (named after his trademark custom guitar) and 'Doyle II: As We Die' follow a similar path to ‘90s-era Misfits releases whilst treading closer to more metallic territory. The iconic horror comic book inspired imagery and lyrical themes remain, making this a must-see for Misfits fans. Doyle will be appearing at The Cluny in Newcastle on Wednesday 10th August. KEV SHORT

SNAKE DAVIS
AT MIDDLESBROUGH TOWN HALL
MAGIC IN THE AIR
AT CENTRAL PARK, NEWCASTLE
Later this month, legendary Newcastle-formed act Lindisfarne are hoping to replace Fog on the Tyne for some Sunshine on the Tyne as they headline ‘Magic in the Air’ along with some true northern talent at Central Park in Newcastle. Famed for their ‘70s folk-rock style, the much-adored five-piece will take centre stage from 7pm. With a whopping five decades of experience, the northern icons are performing from the heart of Newcastle in a show that promises classic beats and crowds on their feet for a sing-along summer show. With a reputation for rocking the crowd during live performances, founder- member Rod Clements will front the folk-rock pioneers in a live show filled with classics like ‘Meet Me on the Corner’ and ‘Run for Home’ on Sunday 21st August, but before that, there’s plenty to warm you up – and I don’t just mean the weather. Who doesn’t love an early event? This “summer- scape” will open from 2pm for sun, fun and folk-rock. From 3pm, welcome support acts including Hector Gannet, led by North Shields singer-songwriter Aaron Duff who, in true North East spirit, named his band after his Grandad’s converted fishing trawler which sadly sank off the coast of England in 1968. Having released an original score for archive footage, part of wider project ‘Moving North: Coastal Series’, their rise to prominence was in 2019 when they supported local music hero, Sam Fender. Following the release of the politically poetic, indie-folk album ‘Big Harcar’, they could yet stand to become a future North East knockout band – so if you want to be part of a crowd who saw Hector Gannet in the early days, get along to ‘Magic in the Air’. Also on the line-up is singer-songwriter Elizabeth Liddle from County Durham who has ventured out on a solo project, setting her on a trajectory of rising star status outside of her work in her band, Moon Wax. Having recently released ‘You Don’t Owe Me’, she brings strung-out vibes solidified by strong vocals that pluck at the heartstrings. With Sam Fender as a big fan, Joe Allan is heading to the stage to bring his repertoire of his reality, including beautifully melodic, acoustic stories that paint pictures of cities through sound. Having secured festival line-ups through competitions as a teenager, he continues to shine - so regardless of the weather, there’s guaranteed brightness. JENNIFER MAY WEST
